I could only use 10 lights and these are also quite bad (non circular stars due to my bad tracking and wind gusts). Too bad that due to the Dark Current Patch DSLR Dashboard will not show the actual taken image. I focussed with DSLR Dashboard live view on my Android tablet using a Bathinov mask. I used (first time) the True Dark Current patch (menu enabled Firmware version) from Nikon Hackers which gives an unaltered RAW file. Oh, I am using wavelet denoise, this plugin is not in the builds I use (see below), just grabbed it from another gimp 2.9.x build and put it in the plug-ins directory. It has some parts where I was thinking or just starring out of the window, so take your time :-) This will not show on a YT app! Use a browser for that (also mobile)). This is more a test, if there is enough interest I will do a narrated version (EDIT: I did some annotations in YT. I will post more here as I learn, and hope others will do the same.īasic GIMP 2.9.x astro image processing. I have a power supply on order because I am currently running the camera battery dry every night so taking the flats right after an image session is not going to happen for a while anyway. The most obvious fault is that I have to figure out a way to take flats. I know these images are not up to the standard of most of the group, I have a lot to learn. This newer version is processed with 2.9, and it allowed me to show the entire image and not just a crop. ![]() This first version of the Bubble was processed with GIMP 2.8, and the only way I could get a decent image was to crop the original and limit the range I had to deal with. Reporting issues and work arounds would also be very helpful. Also, this is a development version which means that it does still have issues. While I know that PixInsight is the preferred package for most imagers in this forum, I am hoping that others may help us get a head start before the full released version and post tricks or tutorials. I had not realized how much the 8-bit version had really limited me until I have something to play with that goes deeper, 16-bit I believe. I just found the development version of GIMP 2.9, and so far it is pretty amazing.
